“What are 5 values that you would never change because they matter so much to you?”
So I did, this is what I wrote today:
I value God/Truth/Restoration.
Implication & application: Knowing the Word, sharing Christ- hope- abundant life, having a Kingdom mindset, important for me to spend time in worship- prayer- study and listening to His voice. I try to find God in every moment, I love spending time meditating through worship music- it’s full of so much truth, reminds me of the rhythm of God’s heart. I want to know what the Father says/does/wants/wills. I want Truth to be active in my life, not just a thought… I want it to be evident in the way I live.
I value people.
Implication & application: All people are worthy of my time and attention- even the ones this world calls dirty-broken-untouchable-scary-scarred-ugly, it’s important for me to maintain relationships, I enjoy going deep by hearing their story and dreams, I see others potential and their strengths even when they don’t, I want to encourage and build up and support through the highs and lows – laugh with those who laugh & mourn with those that mourn. I want people to be restored, and I want to demonstrate their value by serving them, loving them. I adore understanding new cultures and people groups. My family is incredibly important to me.
I value the sanctity of life.
Implication & application: Every life should have a chance to live, adoption – speak out about abortion, invest effort/time/prayer in seeing abortion end, invest effort/time/prayer in the healing of those affected, I am so stirred up about this topic- it’s so personal to me, I must go against the flow of culture and what the world says about the value of life. I want to influence the world in this area, be part of the change… this is my responsibility.
I value beauty in creation.
Implication & application: I love nature- resting in the sounds of nature, outdoor activities, camping, hiking, swimming, water, animals, mountains, meadows, feel the closest to God, I see beauty in the smallest creation, I find rest and get refueled by creation. I enjoy being alone with God in nature or in groups enjoying the beautiful surroundings. This is one reason why I love to travel- see more of God’s creation. I have lost focus of this love and need to spend more time being active outside!
I value Justice.
Implication & application: Stems from my value of people. I see needs, pain, wounds and I physically feel it- God has given me a glimpse of his heart in so many of these areas of injustice. I feel deeply for the unwanted, marginalized, forgotten, hated, and even feared. And I want to see change for the Kingdom- I want to convince others to see it too, I feel this is my responsibility as someone aware. I am compelled to act on this. Examples- passionate that EVERY pregnant woman and their babies should receive skilled loving healthcare! I want to see every orphan placed in loving homes. I want healing for the broken people that oppress others! I want human trafficking brought to an end! Poverty, water issues, slavery, HIV/AIDS, gender based injustice, etc.
THIS IS WHO I AM:
I am confident in my passions and beliefs and I feel compelled to be a conduit for change and growth. I aim to do all with a Godly perspective. I can do nothing well, without Christ. He must be involved in every area of my life. I want to be dependable, capable, loving, approachable and understanding. I want to be somebody who without effort can lead someone to the Father through the way I live… somebody who constantly has Jesus on my tongue.
