Bath products galore, holiday & b-day cards (many years worth), unimportant papers/mail, books, movies, skinny clothes and not skinny clothes, knick-knacks, stuff for every holiday, camping gear, furniture, home décor, ect. Basically in one word you could call it my filler. Filler to me is the stuff I fill my time and space with. My filler has grown to be quite the collection. In fact every year I enjoyed adding to it. I took so much pride in my collection of books, well over 200 novels. I also thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas decorations (all 6 bins of it) It gave me so much delight to get it out every December. The bath products have been a weakness ever since I’ve been earning money at age 13… When I’m bored, happy, sad, or mad I buy new hair products or makeup or lotion and I’d feel temporary satisfaction.
Well, this past weekend I took some GIANT leaps toward ridding myself of unnecessary filler. I managed to reduce my junk down to 2 boxes of keepsake items, clothes (the ones I wear), 1 pillow, 1 blanket, and my laptop! I have never felt so free in my life! I thought it would be so hard, but once I got started it was exhilarating! Maybe I should get out more if that is what I call fun, LOL! But seriously… all this stuff was wasting space and time and it was really holding be back from getting my Jesus feet moving! By selling and giving it all away, other people will be blessed. I took loads of stuff to my mom, my sister, a couple friends, and the Goodwill. You would not believe how great I feel about this transition. It’s really a big deal to be at complete peace. I feel even more ready to go now. God is so smart, did you know that?? He knew that I would need to be shown His will for me in stages. First He sent me on the Philippines trip, then He spoke the calling into my heart to preach the Gospel in developing nations, then little by little he unveiled what that would entail. Now I have come to accept that I don’t need to store any belongings. How long will I be away? I have no clue, but the Lord knows and I trust in Him. God’s plan is perfect.
Do you have ‘things’ that take up your space and time? Do you cling to your belongings more than you cling to God? Clean house my friends- Jesus himself suggests it! Make some room and bless others with your overflow of possessions, it will do YOU good! I am not suggesting you get rid of everything (unless you feel God calling you to do so), but you will be amazed after just clearing away a little clutter… make room to move around to dance and rejoice before the Lord!
